Tree of Water / Feathered Table - Nairs, Scuol‑Tarasp, Switzerland, 2011

*deutsch*

The works have been realised during my stay at the artist-in-residency Nairs (former sanitarium).

Before I came to Scoul I was in India. From there I sent the plastic containers and the peacock feathers to the residency in Nairs.

Tree of Water (Haridwar)
The plastic containers are sold to the people in all kind of sizes at pilgrimage sites like Haridwar, so they can fill it with the holy water from the Ganges.
The tree of water becomes a symbol of itself.

Feathered Table
In the context of my work in the old sanitarium I wanted to point out the idea of the exotic. During the colonial times in Europe around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century the peacock feathers have been a symbol of luxury and wealth.
